Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Advanced Practice Provider Manager to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. This is a leadership position that requires a strong clinical background and excellent administrative skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and support the day-to-day operations of the APP team, ensuring high-quality patient care and efficient clinical operations.
  • Develop and implement staffing models, incorporating benchmark data to optimize APP utilization.
  • Utilize LEAN methodology to address service-related opportunities for improvement and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct regular APP group meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Act as a liaison between UVA APPs and departmental leadership, facilitating communication and ensuring alignment with goals.
  • Partner with other UVA Health leaders to ensure fiduciary obligations are met and proper fiscal management is in place, with a focus on quality improvement and cost effectiveness.
  • Assist with recruitment, serving as the primary hiring manager, and collaborate with Human Resources to monitor and evaluate turnover and recruiting issues.
  • Plan, implement, and supervise administrative and operational activities for the APP team, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining high-quality patient care.
  • Perform annual performance reviews for department/team APPs, conduct disciplinary performance reviews, and action planning.
  • Construct, implement, and evaluate APP onboarding within their designated team.
  • Comply with, role model, and enforce behavioral standards for service excellence, monitoring the overall execution of service excellence tactics and modifying as necessary to achieve goals/outcomes.
  • Provide leadership, direction, administrative support, coaching, and feedback to the APP staff within their group, facilitating and emulating the role of the APP in solutions to and resolution of issues related to patient care delivery and collaboration with all members of the healthcare team.
  • Maintain open lines of communication between the APP group, Medical Directors, APP leadership, and Service Line Leadership to be an agent for positive change.
  • Develop and lead the implementation of department and/or system goals by collaborating with key stakeholders, aligning team goals with Health System initiatives, and demonstrating accountability for own professional practice and improvement efforts.
  • Ensure leadership succession planning is in place and create an environment that is blame-free, where a spirit of appreciative inquiry flourishes and thinking outside the box and taking risks is a system property.
Requirements
  • Master's or Doctorate in Nursing (Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) or Master's or Doctorate in Science (Physician Assistant or Radiologist Assistant).
  • 5 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, Certified Nurse Midwife, Radiologist Assistant, or Physician Assistant.
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia and licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, or Certified Nurse Midwife in the Commonwealth of Virginia, or licensed to practice as a Physician Assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia or licensed to practice as a Radiologist Assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification and American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS) required for selected clinical practice settings.
Physical Demands

The job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently walking/bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly; ability to lift/push/pull 20-50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
