Job Title: Advanced Practice Provider

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Advanced Practice Provider in the University of Virginia's comprehensive cancer center. As a key member of our interprofessional lung nodule program, you will work closely with our interventional pulmonologist and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the medical director, administrative management, nursing, and other interprofessional team members to facilitate patient care and management.
  • Exercise independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of medical processes and procedures.
  • Perform and document comprehensive health histories and physical assessments.
  • Formulate diagnoses, identify problems, and health risk profiles, and communicate with other members of the healthcare team.
  • Perform procedures within the scope of practice and UVA Health System credentialing and privileges.
  • Order medications, treatments, and therapies in accordance with Virginia Prescriptive regulations.
  • Request consultation and initiate referrals to other healthcare providers as needed.
  • Evaluate and analyze patient responses to the disease process and/or therapeutic, diagnostic interventions.
  • Provide information, education, and support to patients and families regarding disease processes and treatment plans.
  • Participate in on-call responsibilities as determined by the department or unit.
  • Manage patients in accordance with established UVA Medical Center and UVA UPG policies and procedures.
  • Report births, deaths, outbreaks of communicable diseases, and other information critical to the patient's and/or the public's health as required by legal or governmental authorities.
  • Meet quality standards as determined by the Medical Director and/or UVA Health System.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master's degree.
  • Department and unit-specific experience.
  • License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Associate, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) as set forth by the state of Virginia.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Current PALS/NRP, as required, specific to position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position.
Physical Demands:

The job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
