Job Title: Associate Patient Care Coordinator

About the Role

We are seeking a friendly, patient-focused, and detail-oriented Associate Patient Care Coordinator to join our team at Optum Radiology Howard Beach. As a key member of our care team, you will work cooperatively with all members to support our vision and mission, deliver excellent customer service, and adhere to Lean processes.

Responsibilities
  • Obtain accurate and updated patient information, including name, address, and insurance details.
  • Perform insurance verification on the date of service.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is essential.
  • Obtain patient signatures for required documents.
  • File and maintain medical records.
  • Confirm and schedule appointments.
  • Answer incoming and outgoing telephone calls promptly and courteously.
  • Perform referral documentation promptly.
  • Follow up with patients in a prompt and courteous manner, including scheduling specialist appointments and obtaining copies of lab results or specialist reports.
  • Adhere to the standards identified via Sparq regarding Optum Employee Policies.
  • Work cohesively with fellow employees to achieve specific team goals.
  • Stay up-to-date on current medical requirements relevant to your position, including maintaining patient confidentiality and abiding by all HIPAA and OSHA requirements.
  • Comfortable working in a high-paced environment.
  • Participate in planning, coordinating, and implementing care in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team in accordance with the Plan of Care.
  • Assure the continuity of care through scheduling and tracking systems.
  • Provide effective communication to patient/family team members and other healthcare professionals.
  • Comply with administrative policies to ensure quality of care.
  • Demonstrate precision and efficiency in scanning documents and monitoring the fax server.

Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher).
  • 1+ years of customer service or healthcare-related experience.
  • Intermediate level of computer proficiency (multi-task through multiple applications including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word).
  • Ability to travel to other practices if needed for coverage.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with an electronic health record.
  • Knowledge of Radiology terms.
  • Knowledge of Medical terms.
  • 1+ years of experience working in a medical front office position performing duties such as scheduling appointments, checking patients in/out, insurance verification, collecting co-pays, and maintaining medical records.
Soft Skills
  • Ability to work independently and maintain good judgment and accountability.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with healthcare providers.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet all deadlines.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
