The Role

Lead and manage procurement activities across various significant investment initiatives. Serve as a sourcing authority, adhering to standardized procedures for conducting tendering in line with best procurement practices. Ensure the acquisition of high-quality goods and services at optimal prices through effective negotiation and contract management with selected suppliers. Act as a communication bridge between Investment, Engineering, and Sourcing teams, maintaining a comprehensive overview while addressing local customer needs. Identify opportunities for operational enhancements and seek consensus through collaborative management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee procurement operations for major projects, including supplier selection in collaboration with category managers, executing tender processes, bid clarification, evaluation, and contract negotiations
  • Establish and lead cross-functional teams in sourcing activities to identify, negotiate, and secure preferred supplier contracts and agreements
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and technical experts to ensure optimal supplier contracts and successful project execution
  • Ensure all sourcing and supplier-related activities comply with our standards and regulations
  • Balance business and project objectives concerning risk assessment and deliverables in complex environments
  • Develop procurement strategies for investment projects
  • Coordinate crisis management efforts to mitigate risks
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure business objectives are achieved
  • Partner with business lines to demonstrate how sourcing and procurement can support overall strategies
  • Communicate effectively with various stakeholders to gain consensus for strategic initiatives
  • Support the internationalization process by building local staff capacity in professional procurement
  • Analyze and develop business opportunities and procurement strategies, ensuring stakeholder buy-in
  • Focus on total cost perspectives in major investment projects and challenge assumptions when necessary
  • Drive the identification and realization of maximum savings and benefits
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of departmental tools, systems, and processes
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships within and outside the organization to achieve key business objectives
  • Ensure non-financial objectives are also prioritized
  • Support the Supplier Diversity program by promoting the inclusion of diverse suppliers in sourcing initiatives
  • Collaborate with other procurement teams to establish company-wide systems, tools, and policies
  • Explore new methodologies for optimizing global processes and supplier relationships
  • Contribute to the development of the supplier base
  • Share best practices to support departmental development
  • Foster a positive, innovative, and cooperative environment within the department
  • Adhere to all safety and environmental regulations in the execution of duties
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Physical Requirements

Ability to work in an open office environment with potential distractions. Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Engineering, Business, Finance, Procurement, Accounting, or a related field from an accredited institution
  • A minimum of ten years of relevant experience in procurement or project management for large capital investment projects
  • Experience in procurement management across various positions in North America and internationally is preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead project development and implementation
  • Proven knowledge of strategic procurement practices and their application
  • Experience in developing procurement tools and strategies is preferred
  • A successful track record in navigating complex projects and overcoming challenges
  • Strong team leadership skills and a focus on continuous improvement
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation abilities
  • Capacity to develop strategic sourcing plans based on supply and demand dynamics
  • Ability to analyze complex data and develop alternative solutions
  • Strong relationship-building skills and understanding of quality, time, and stakeholder management
  • Solid project management skills, including planning, problem-solving, and team management
  • Ability to prioritize activities and optimize resource use within the department
  • Capability to develop and manage action plans to achieve targets
