Role Overview

As a key player in our investment projects, you will lead and manage procurement activities. Your expertise in sourcing will guide the tendering process, ensuring adherence to best practices in procurement. Your role will involve negotiating and overseeing contracts and relationships with chosen suppliers, while serving as a vital communication link between Investment, Engineering, and Sourcing (IES) and project stakeholders. You will identify opportunities for operational enhancements and foster consensus among diverse teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee procurement functions across multiple major projects, including supplier selection in collaboration with category managers, executing tender processes, clarifying bids, and negotiating terms and contracts.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in sourcing activities to identify, negotiate, and establish contracts with preferred suppliers.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and technical experts to secure optimal supplier contracts and ensure successful project delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with all sourcing and supplier-related activities according to established standards and regulations.
  • Balance business and project objectives concerning sustainability, risk assessment, and deliverables in complex environments.
  • Formulate procurement strategies for investment projects.
  • Coordinate crisis management efforts to mitigate risks.
  • Act as a liaison between business lines, internal stakeholders, and suppliers to meet business goals.
  • Partner with business lines to demonstrate how procurement can support overarching business strategies.
  • Communicate effectively with various stakeholders to gain support for strategic initiatives.
  • Assist in the internationalization process of IES by building local staff capacity in professional procurement practices.
  • Analyze and develop procurement strategies and plans, ensuring stakeholder buy-in at all levels.
  • Advocate for a total cost perspective in major investment projects.
  • Drive initiatives to identify and realize potential savings and benefits.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of departmental tools, systems, and processes.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships within and outside the organization to achieve key business objectives.
  • Support the Supplier Diversity program by promoting the inclusion of diverse suppliers in sourcing initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Procurement team to establish company-wide procurement systems and policies.
  • Explore new tools and methodologies for optimizing procurement processes.
  • Contribute to the development of the IES supplier base.
  • Share best practices to support departmental development activities.
  • Foster a positive, innovative, and cooperative environment within the department.
  • Adhere to all safety and environmental requirements in your role.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work in an open office environment with potential distractions. Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Engineering, Business, Finance, Procurement, Accounting, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • At least ten years of relevant experience in procurement or project management within large capital investment projects, preferably in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Experience in procurement management across various positions in North America and internationally is preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a track record of leading project development and implementation.
  • Strong knowledge of strategic procurement practices and their application in purchasing equipment and services.
  • Experience in developing procurement tools and strategies is advantageous.
  • Proven ability to navigate complex projects and overcome unforeseen challenges.
  • Strong team leadership skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to develop strategic sourcing plans based on supply and demand dynamics.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in addressing complex issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
