The Texas A&M School of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences is seeking a Veterinary Technician I to provide essential care and assistance to animals within the Veterinary Medical Park. This role is vital in promoting animal welfare and contributing to advanced veterinary practices that benefit both animals and humans.

Qualifications Required
- Associate's degree in veterinary technology, biomedical science, animal science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
- Strong multitasking abilities and effective collaboration skills, along with basic computer proficiency
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a veterinary setting, particularly with large animals
- Certification as a Veterinary Assistant
- Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) certification
- Experience with veterinary equipment in an educational environment
- Skills in handling and restraining large animals, identifying health concerns, and knowledge of Biosafety Level 2 protocols
- Experience in blood sampling, administering vaccines and medications, and familiarity with laboratory equipment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
Key Responsibilities
- Animal Care: Provide assistance with medication administration, maintain medical records, collect samples, and support surgical procedures
- Facility Maintenance: Offer clinical support, monitor for disease, ensure sanitation, and prepare animal habitats
- Anesthesia Support: Assist with anesthesia setup, monitoring, and critical care as needed
- Bio-safety Compliance: Maintain cleanliness and organization within the Bioscience Facility, and assist with research trials as required
