Systems Engineering Specialist for PMA 265

SAIC is in search of a Systems Engineering Specialist to provide direct support to the F/A-18 & EA-18G Flight Plan Team within PMA 265 at Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR).

In this position, the selected candidate will deliver engineering and analytical assistance to the Flight Plan team and the Integrated Product Teams across PMA-265, focusing on pre-Milestone A technical initiatives.

PMA 265 oversees the F/A-18 and EA-18 Program Office, catering to the needs of the Navy, Marine Corps, and international allies across various F/A-18 variants.

The candidate will be required to work onsite alongside the PMA-265 Flight Plan Team. This role will adopt a hybrid model, necessitating 2-3 days of onsite presence.



Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop comprehensive technical requirements documents in collaboration with Integrated Product Teams.
  • Gain a thorough understanding of PMA-265 platforms, missions, and system architecture to formulate requirements documentation aimed at enhancing platform capabilities.
  • Facilitate Platform Interface coordination with Mission Area System-of-Systems Stakeholders.
  • Oversee and transition approved Flight Plan initiatives (Program of Records) to the relevant Pillar/IPT teams.
  • Engage in System Development of Architectures to support various activities, including trade studies, concept exploration, initial technical reviews, POM issue development, and resource management associated with Pre-Milestone A activities.
  • Assist in the creation of architectural products, trade studies, and POM issue sheets in collaboration with system-of-systems stakeholder PMAs and entities.
  • Ensure the integration of system-of-systems requirements into program developmental documents such as Requirements Specifications, Statements of Work, Contract Data Requirements Lists, Requests for Information, and Model-Based Systems Engineering artifacts.
  • Monitor and communicate technical margin constraints, including Size, Weight, Power, and Cost (SWAP-C) and computing resources, that must be factored into capability development and requirements allocations.
  • Coordinate potential trade studies with expertise in applicable IPTs and facilitate the transition of efforts to those IPTs for post-Milestone A activities.
  • Support the Science and Technology (S&T) Lead with tracking and executing experimentation, and collaborate with the S&T Lead on future demonstrations aimed at addressing mission capability gaps and formulating technical and programmatic plans to advance low Technology Readiness Level (TRL) concepts.


Qualifications:

Required Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field and a minimum of 3 years of pertinent engineering experience.
- An active Interim Secret clearance is essential.
- Familiarity with Program, Planning, Budgeting, and Execution Systems.
- Proficiency in System Architecture & Models, Trade Studies, System Engineering Plans, Technical Reviews, POM issue sheets, Requirements Analysis, Allocation, and Management.


Desired Experience:
- Experience within NAVAIR Program Office environments and processes.
- Knowledge of fixed-wing US Navy and US Marine Corps aircraft platforms and systems.
