Job Overview:
Join the Texas Department of Public Safety as a Telecommunications Equipment Technician I, where you will engage in essential telecommunications tasks that support our agency's operations. This role involves the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various communication systems.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Install, configure, and troubleshoot mobile radio systems as part of the agency's communication network.
2. Set up and maintain in-vehicle video systems to enhance operational capabilities.
3. Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of emergency equipment, including lighting and weapons storage systems.
4. Install and configure additional vehicle equipment such as routers and audible warning devices.
5. Assist in the removal of equipment from surplus vehicles for repurposing.
6. Provide field support during emergencies as directed by leadership.
7. Transport vehicles to various locations to fulfill agency requirements.
8. Maintain regular attendance and adhere to agency policies regarding leave and attendance.
9. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Preferred one year of experience in vehicle equipment installation.
Licensure: Valid driver’s license required.
Technical Skills: Knowledge of electrical theory and automotive systems is essential. Ability to troubleshoot two-way radio and emergency lighting systems is required.

Personal Attributes:
Demonstrated integrity, accountability, and teamwork are essential. Must possess strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a dynamic environment.

Physical Requirements:
This position requires the ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting weights up to sixty pounds and operating vehicles safely.
