Position Summary

The Family Support Specialist collaborates closely with the Supervised Visitation Services Program Supervisor and the Department of Child Safety (DCS) to deliver a comprehensive array of support services aimed at enhancing the skills and capabilities of parents and caregivers. These services encompass, but are not limited to, addressing safety concerns, providing parenting skills training, facilitating supervised visits for children in care, coordinating transportation, and attending necessary case meetings and court proceedings. The Specialist is expected to fully understand and adhere to the contractual obligations and policies associated with the role while working in partnership with various community organizations involved with the family.

Part-Time Position

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversees all activities related to assigned family cases.
  • Ensures compliance with all reporting requirements as per contractual agreements.
  • Engages in daily activities crucial for achieving program goals, including family assessments, home-based support, skills training, case coordination, and documentation.
  • Actively participates in collaborative team meetings and supports joint initiatives.
  • Completes mandatory training within the specified timeframe.
  • Provides direct services to clients, including transportation assistance.
  • Maintains confidentiality of client records.
  • Conducts regular home visits to assess family needs and promote effective parenting practices.
  • Offers guidance through role modeling and training in areas such as child development, effective parenting, safety, nutrition, and resource management.
  • Facilitates access to community services and serves as a positive role model.
  • Arranges transportation for families as authorized by DCS.
  • Utilizes effective decision-making and critical thinking skills.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years old and possess an Associate's degree in a Human Services field or relevant experience.
  • Prior experience in a similar role is preferred.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required.
  • Ability to interact professionally with clients, staff, and community partners.
  • Knowledge of family dynamics and the provision of family-centered services.
  • Experience working with diverse families and facilitating visitations.
  • Familiarity with community resources and public behavioral health services.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Must meet all training and agency requirements for the position.
  • Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Must possess or be eligible for a valid fingerprint clearance card.
  • Valid driver's license and insurability under agency policy are required.
