Position Summary

This is a senior leadership role within the Transportation Engineering sector, offering a full-time, permanent opportunity with significant potential for professional growth. The individual in this position will take charge of a design team, overseeing all facets of project management. Responsibilities include seeking new project opportunities, preparing proposals, assessing project staffing requirements, managing production workload forecasts, and ensuring the financial health of the team. Additionally, the role involves maintaining relationships with current and prospective clients and overseeing project and departmental budgets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a Senior Technical Advisor and Subject Matter Expert.
  • Identify and pursue new markets and clients to generate project opportunities while fostering positive relationships with existing clients.
  • Prepare proposals and qualification statements, including pre-implementation estimates, and deliver compelling presentations.
  • Ensure adherence to project schedules, scopes, and budgets.
  • Develop and manage project schedules and budgets, ensuring timely and cost-effective project delivery.
  • Determine project team composition and allocate workloads effectively.
  • Conduct project kick-off meetings to align on schedules and expectations.
  • Manage client invoicing and monitor payment processes.
  • Oversee the design phase, including conducting design review meetings and providing progress updates to stakeholders.
  • Facilitate the bidding phase in accordance with project requirements, addressing contractor inquiries as needed.
  • Manage the construction phase in compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Implement and maintain quality control procedures across all technical areas necessary for project completion.
  • Ensure orderly and complete project correspondence and design documentation.
  • Oversee project closeout processes in line with established protocols.
  • Advise senior management on staffing needs and assist in recruitment efforts.
  • Provide input for employee evaluations and ensure compliance with personnel policies.
  • Communicate regularly with various stakeholders, including engineers, managers, clients, and contractors.
  • Enhance professional knowledge through workshops, publications, and participation in professional organizations.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Professional Engineer certification.
  • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification is a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in transportation engineering.
  • 3-5 years of experience in project or department management.
  • Proven track record in business development and client retention.
  • Established relationships with state transportation departments are preferred.
