The Project Engineer will play a vital role in the development, planning, and execution of engineering tasks across various transportation projects. This role involves working independently on assignments while receiving guidance from senior engineers for complex challenges. Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on the design of roadway projects, ensuring effective coordination with traffic, bridge design, transportation planning, and environmental considerations.
  • Develop familiarity with relevant transportation systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Address and resolve intricate issues, such as conflicting design specifications and challenging coordination demands.
  • Engage with project team members, client representatives, and regulatory agencies to facilitate project progress.
  • Communicate with clients to clarify the scope of engineering services needed.
  • Conduct thorough analysis and design to meet the defined engineering service requirements.
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates as necessary.
  • Generate final construction documents for review and approval by the Project Manager.
  • Conduct regular site observations and participate in project meetings as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of client billing for completed work.
  • Support proposal development as needed.
  • Maintain communication with various stakeholders, including Principals, Design Group Leaders, Project Managers, and contractors.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to work collaboratively with clients to define requirements and address technical issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with MicroStation, INROADS, and Civil 3D is preferred.
  • Proficient in engineering software applications.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License.
  • Self-motivated and proactive in approach.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in civil engineering or a related area.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is required; Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification is a plus.
  • At least 2 years of experience in traffic engineering or traffic planning projects.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands of this position require the ability to stand, walk, use hands for handling tools, reach with arms, and communicate effectively. The role may involve lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Vision requirements include close, distance, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
