Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Chief Operating Officer to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a key member of our executive leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the operational aspects of our healthcare delivery system, ensuring that we provide high-quality patient care services while maintaining a unified and coordinated delivery model.

Key Responsibilities
  • Healthcare Delivery and Process Design: Participate as an executive member on system-wide healthcare delivery and process design, including models of care delivery, physical work environment, technology, and human resource management.
  • Program Development and Implementation: Plan and operationalize new/expanded programs and new/expanded sites of care within the system or service area, leveraging emerging technology across sites of care.
  • Physician Relations and Collaboration: Cultivate physician relationships and collaborate interdepartmentally with Advocate resources and community partnerships, identifying and assisting in the recruitment of key physician specialists to provide comprehensive specialty care and grow market share.
  • Strategic Planning and Business Development: Establish and implement a multi-year strategic plan and corresponding business plans in alignment with the strategic plans for Advocate and individual sites of care, reviewing competitor analysis to evaluate growth opportunities and new market trends.
  • Operational Leadership and Guidance: Provide executive leadership and guidance to inpatient and outpatient departments, integrating the functions of assigned areas and promoting collaboration to improve care.
  • Resource Allocation and Budgeting: Directly accountable for the allocation of resources related to patient experience, capital and expense budgets, FTEs, and physical space to ensure a unified and coordinated care delivery model.
  • Financial Management and Compliance: Oversee the financial pro forma for new and expanded services, including capital needs, staffing, equipment, profitability, and training needs, ensuring budgeting and financial management of areas of responsibility to meet quality patient care and fiscal goals.
  • Human Resources and Compliance: Perform human resources responsibilities for staff, including interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Advanced degree in business, hospital administration, nursing, or a healthcare-related field, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in progressive leadership in healthcare management.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrated management skills, including analytical skills, ability to work well with others, team building, and conflict resolution skills, effective communication and presentation skills, and ability to work across all lines of management and staff to promote good relationships among departments.
