Postdoctoral Research Fellow - Vascular Biology Center

Position Overview:

The Vascular Biology Center at Augusta University is seeking a dedicated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to contribute to innovative research in cardiovascular health. This role focuses on utilizing animal models to explore the mechanisms of inflammation and cardiometabolic diseases, particularly in the context of diet-induced obesity and related conditions.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Experimental Design: Develop and execute experiments with precision, employing various techniques such as gene delivery, protein/mRNA expression analysis, and cell culture.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze experimental data using both manual and computational methods, ensuring rigorous adherence to scientific protocols.
  • Research Collaboration: Engage with a multidisciplinary team, contributing to project planning and protocol development while maintaining compliance with federal guidelines.
  • Scientific Communication: Present research findings at national and international conferences, and prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Technical Expertise: Operate and maintain complex scientific equipment, providing guidance to other researchers and students on best practices.
  • General Duties: Support principal investigators and other research personnel in various aspects of research activities.

Qualifications:

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. from an accredited institution. A strong background in molecular biology, fluorescence imaging, and immunohistochemical analysis is preferred. Candidates should possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently while maintaining a collaborative spirit.


Work Environment:

This position requires a commitment to ethical research practices and the ability to work with research animals. The role is primarily conducted during standard business hours, with the possibility of additional hours as needed.
