The selected candidate will engage in phenotypic analysis of mouse mutants, conduct mouse surgeries, and isolate endothelial and vascular cells from murine models.

Collaboration with a team of scientists will be essential, as each member undertakes a series of mouse experiments relevant to human health.

Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for plasmid and adenovirus amplification, western blotting, qPCR, tissue sectioning, and histological and immunofluorescence staining to support the work of lab members.

Daily updates to an existing database will also be required.

The candidate must be proficient in handling and working with mice, including maintaining a mouse colony with genotyping, and possess strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Maintaining the mouse colony through selective breeding and culling; Performing mouse surgeries related to cardiovascular conditions; Amplifying plasmids and adenoviruses; Conducting tissue sectioning and immunohistochemical and immunofluorescence analyses; Executing western blotting, analyzing gels, and updating the database; Performing other related duties as assigned, including providing cross-coverage for a Research Associate working with mice.

Required Qualifications

A Master's degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or other natural, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area is required, along with two years of experience in research, basic science, or clinical laboratory settings, particularly in clinical trial research. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in the aforementioned fields with a minimum of five years of research and/or clinical experience, including previous supervisory experience, is acceptable.

Preferred Qualifications
A research background in cell culture, histology, molecular biology, and experience with animal surgeries is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and a desire to learn are essential; candidates must be highly motivated and willing to work with research animals. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are required, along with strong prioritization and organizational abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software databases, or a willingness to learn, is necessary. The ability to work independently, meet deadlines, make responsible decisions, and maintain confidentiality is crucial.

Pay Band:
B9

Salary Minimum:
$48,800 annually

Salary will be commensurate with the qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
