Position Overview

The Vascular Biology Center at the Medical College of Georgia is engaged in vital research addressing cardiovascular diseases, including heart attack, heart failure, stroke, hypertension, and diabetes.

This project will utilize animal models to investigate the effects of inflammation on aging and cardiometabolic disorders, focusing on diet-induced obesity, peripheral artery disease, and atherosclerosis.

Key experimental techniques will involve the isolation and culture of vascular and inflammatory cells, gene delivery methods, and various protein/mRNA expression assays.

Responsibilities include designing and executing experiments ethically, analyzing data, and effectively communicating findings through presentations and publications.


Key Responsibilities
  • Experimental Analysis: Conduct experiments and analyze results using both manual and computational methods. Engage in molecular biology, physiology, and various surgical procedures.
  • Project Development: Collaborate in planning research projects and developing protocols while ensuring compliance with scientific standards and federal regulations.
  • Literature Review: Research and summarize scientific literature, evaluate findings, and present results at conferences.
  • Publication Preparation: Write articles for scientific journals and review submissions from colleagues.
  • Technical Support: Maintain and operate complex scientific equipment, providing training to others as needed.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Ph.D. from an accredited institution is required.


Preferred Skills

Strong background in molecular biology, fluorescence imaging, and various experimental techniques is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software is essential.


Shift/Salary/Benefits

Days; Monday - Friday (may require work outside standard hours). Salary commensurate with qualifications within the established range.
