Summary

Moog Defense Group is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Design Engineer to join a team working on cutting-edge motion control systems for defense applications. This role focuses on designing Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) and electrical Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), primarily for brushless motor control. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in electrohydraulic, electro-pneumatic, and electromechanical systems, with the ability to lead a team in innovative design and problem-solving.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of complex PCB and LRU systems for brushless motor control.
  • Provide architectural solutions and guide the design team in implementing innovative systems.
  • Act as a technical leader, forecasting tasks and defining solutions across defense business units.
  • Prepare successful proposal designs, including cost and schedule estimates.
  • Perform trade studies, analyses, and specialized research to validate conceptual solutions.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive experimental test programs to create reliable designs.
  • Document designs, analyses, and test results with detailed and concise reports.
  • Mentor and assist in the training of junior engineers.
  • Collaborate effectively within a creative and independent team environment.
Skills/Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with 10+ years of relevant experience, or Master of Science in Engineering with 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in circuit design, analysis, and testing, with extensive experience in PCB design.
  • Familiarity with power devices/modules and motor control systems is preferred.
  • Experienced with position sensors used in motor control and their electrical communication.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive, self-motivated approach.
Preferred
  • Experience in designing and fielding products in the defense industry.
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team, fostering a collaborative and communicative environment.
