Job Summary

The City of Burlington is seeking a highly skilled Water Treatment Specialist to join their team. As a key member of the water utility team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable distribution of water to the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and maintain the performance of water treatment equipment, meters, and charts in well houses.
  • Record statistical data and maintain accurate records of analyses and test results.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair malfunctions at well houses, including meters, pumps, filters, and other controls and equipment.
  • Collect and analyze water samples to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Train and maintain lesser skilled operators in field laboratory methods and procedures.
  • Calibrate and repair instrumentation and control equipment, including recorders, flow meters, and other water monitoring equipment.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience in a water utility or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to obtain Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Water Operator Certification - Grade T within six months of hire and Grade 1 within eighteen months of hire.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a Class B CDL with air brakes and tanker endorsement within six months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Additional Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Water Operator Certification in subclasses (V) VOC and (Z) Zeolite Softening.
  • Multi-media 1st-Aid Training and CPR Certification.
  • Confined Entry Rescue Training and participation on confined entry team.
Working Conditions

The Water Treatment Specialist will work in a fast-paced environment with rotating weekend and holiday duties, as well as 24-hour on-call responsibilities.
