Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Building Inspector to join our team at the City of Kirkland. As a Building Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring that construction projects meet the necessary building codes and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough site inspections to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Investigate complaints and mediate resolutions as needed.
  • Review and approve building plans and permits.
  • Collaborate with contractors and developers to resolve code-related issues.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records of inspections and compliance.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three years of construction or inspection experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License and International Code Council (ICC) Commercial Building Inspector Certification required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with contractors, developers, and the public.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Working Conditions

This position requires frequent travel to construction sites and may involve exposure to inclement weather conditions. The incumbent must be able to climb ladders, walk on scaffolding, and crawl in crawl spaces as needed.
