Job Overview

Position Title: General Labor Blaster

Company: Conflux Systems

Compensation: $20.45/hr. on W2

Duration: 4 months

Shift Schedule: Friday 5:30am to Sunday 6pm

Role Summary:

The primary objective of this role is to execute a range of tasks within the Special Process Department while working with minimal oversight. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting operators in various processes such as furnace operations, machining, surface treatment, cleaning, and coating in alignment with manufacturing and client specifications.
  • Performing grit blasting on components, including the removal of thermal barrier coatings and bond coats prior to inspection, repair, or re-coating.
  • Utilizing shot peening equipment effectively.
  • Adjusting parameters on all manual, walk-in, and automated blasting machines as necessary.
  • Handling the movement of parts in and out of the walk-in blaster using forklifts or other suitable methods.
  • Transporting components to different workstations within the department and facility.
  • Assisting in the preventative maintenance of blasting equipment, including maintaining accurate records and logs.
  • Restocking department consumables such as blasting media and cleaning materials.
  • Providing assistance in minor adjustments and repairs to various departmental tools and machinery.
  • Retrieving and returning tools and fixtures utilized in the processing of components.
  • Executing Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) related to blasting operations.
  • Assisting in the loading of components onto fixtures for processing.
  • Conducting routine maintenance on equipment as required.
  • Engaging in moderate physical activities, including bending, stretching, walking, and standing.
  • Utilizing mechanical controls such as buttons, knobs, and levers regularly.
  • Employing a crane for lifting and transporting parts, fixtures, or cutting tools weighing up to 50 pounds or more.
  • Maintaining normal or corrected vision and hearing capabilities.
  • Potential exposure to coating materials, fumes, and chemicals.
  • Wearing a full hooded air supply respirator during specific job operations.
  • Encountering extreme heat conditions while operating furnaces.
  • Exercising caution in equipment operation and material handling to prevent accidents that could lead to injuries.
  • Utilizing safety goggles/glasses and safety shoes in the production area; ear protection, gloves, full face hooded air supply respirators, disposable coveralls, and aprons are recommended.
  • Following established procedures and applying judgment in selecting methods for setups, planning, and decision-making based on knowledge of standards and policies.
  • Being accountable for material or product errors that may lead to significant customer impact.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in blasting metal materials using various blast media.
  • Ability to train other staff members on specific skills.
  • Experience in performing preventive maintenance on blasting equipment is preferred.
  • Proficiency in using blasting equipment is required.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills are necessary, including the ability to read, write, and complete simple forms.
  • Basic mathematical skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division are required, along with the ability to utilize formulas, charts, tables, and diagrams.
  • This is an entry-level position requiring experience in an industrial setting.
  • Responsibility for the safety of others is essential.
  • Constant mental and visual attention is necessary to manage repetitive and variable tasks.
  • Successful completion of the Industrial Reading Test with a score of 70% or higher is required.
  • Successful completion of the Shop Math Test with a score of 70% or higher is required.
  • Certification and maintenance of a forklift license are necessary.
Education:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position.
