Job Overview

Position: Structural Steel Project Manager

Salary: $80,000 - $140,000 based on experience

Travel Expenses: $130 per day with a 15% salary increase for travel days

Role Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Project Manager is to oversee and direct construction activities for projects valued between $500,000 and $50 million. This role involves administrative oversight of on-site Superintendents to ensure timely and budget-compliant project completion. The Project Manager is also tasked with identifying critical issues and implementing necessary corrective actions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead projects with professionalism, courtesy, and respect for all stakeholders.
  • Establish project direction, align resources, and execute tasks to a high standard.
  • Engage with clients to determine project scope and resource requirements.
  • Oversee the entire construction process to ensure adherence to safety, quality, design, budget, and schedule standards.
  • Communicate directly with client representatives, architectural and engineering teams, and subcontractors.
  • Develop and manage project timelines.
  • Handle financial aspects of contracts, including fee payments and expense management.
  • Initiate and manage change orders and additional work estimates.
  • Ensure productivity, material efficiency, and contractual compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Represent the company in project meetings and assist in labor negotiations.
  • Establish project objectives, policies, and performance standards in line with corporate guidelines.
  • Manage job costs effectively.
  • Coordinate subcontractor activities and lead contractor meetings.
  • Draft and manage subcontracts and change orders.
  • Mentor and develop Project Engineers.
  • Address and resolve project-related issues effectively.
  • Ensure thorough and efficient project closeout, including financial reconciliation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Self-motivated individuals with strong leadership capabilities and a focus on account development.
  • Ability to manage all project dimensions, including technical, safety, scheduling, cost, and financial responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Primavera, AutoCAD, and Viewpoint software.
  • Experience in the automotive industry is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and planning skills.

Experience Requirements:

  • A four-year degree in engineering or construction management, or equivalent technical training and experience.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in structural steel project management within heavy industrial settings.
