Job Overview

Position: Structural Steel Project Manager

Salary: $80,000 - $140,000 based on experience

Travel Expenses: $130 per day with a 15% salary increase for travel days

Role Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Project Manager is to oversee and direct construction activities for projects valued between $500,000 and $50 million. This includes providing administrative guidance to on-site Superintendents to ensure timely and budget-compliant project completion. The Project Manager is also tasked with identifying critical issues and implementing effective solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all project initiatives while maintaining professionalism and respect for all stakeholders.
  • Establish direction, align resources, and uphold high execution standards.
  • Engage with clients to evaluate project scope and resource needs for successful completion.
  • Oversee the entire construction process to ensure adherence to safety, quality, design, budget, and timeline.
  • Communicate directly with client representatives, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Develop and manage project schedules effectively.
  • Handle financial aspects of contracts, including fee payments and expense management.
  • Initiate and manage extra work estimates and change order processes.
  • Ensure productivity, efficient material use, and compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Represent the company in project meetings and assist in labor negotiations.
  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within corporate guidelines.
  • Manage job costs diligently.
  • Coordinate subcontractor activities and lead contractor meetings.
  • Draft and manage subcontracts and change orders.
  • Mentor and develop Project Engineers.
  • Address and resolve project-related issues effectively.
  • Ensure thorough and efficient project closeout, including financial reconciliation.

Required Skills:

  • Self-motivated with strong leadership capabilities and a focus on account development.
  • Ability to manage all project aspects, including technical, safety, scheduling, cost, and financial responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Primavera, AutoCAD, and Viewpoint software.
  • Experience in the automotive industry is advantageous.
  • Strong problem-solving and planning skills.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management, or equivalent technical training and experience.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in structural steel project management within heavy industrial settings.
