Job Overview

Position: Structural Steel Project Manager

Salary: $80,000 - $140,000 based on experience

Travel Expenses: $130 per day

Salary Increase: 15% for travel days

Role Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Project Manager is to oversee and manage construction projects ranging from $500,000 to $50 million. This includes providing administrative direction to on-site Superintendents to ensure timely and budget-compliant project completion. The Project Manager will also assess and address any significant issues that may arise during the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all project initiatives while maintaining professionalism and respect towards all stakeholders.
  • Establish project direction, align necessary resources, and execute tasks to a high standard.
  • Engage with clients to evaluate project scope and required resources for successful execution.
  • Oversee the entire construction process to ensure adherence to safety, quality, design, budget, and timeline.
  • Collaborate directly with client representatives, architects, engineers, and other contractors.
  • Develop and manage the project timeline effectively.
  • Handle financial elements of contracts, including fee payments, equipment rentals, and overall income/expenses.
  • Initiate and manage estimates for additional work and process change orders.
  • Ensure productivity of the workforce, efficient material and equipment usage, and contractual compliance.
  • Represent the company in project meetings and assist in labor negotiations and strategic discussions.
  • Set project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within corporate guidelines.
  • Manage project costs effectively.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and lead contractor meetings.
  • Draft and manage subcontracts and change orders.
  • Mentor and develop Project Engineers.
  • Address and resolve all project-related issues appropriately.
  • Ensure thorough and efficient project closeout, including financial aspects.

Essential Skills:

  • Self-motivated with strong leadership capabilities and a focus on developing new business opportunities.
  • Ability to manage all facets of a project, including technical, safety, scheduling, cost, and financial responsibilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Primavera, AutoCAD, and Viewpoint software.
  • Experience in the automotive industry is advantageous.
  • Strong problem-solving and planning skills.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management, or equivalent technical training and experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in structural steel project management within heavy industrial settings.
