Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Assistant to join our team at Ascension Seton. As a Surgical Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing direct assistance to surgeons during surgical procedures, ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct assistance to surgeons during surgical procedures, including positioning patients, using stabilizing equipment, and maximizing patient comfort and safety.
  • Utilize appropriate techniques to achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis, and assist with body plane closure, application of wound dressings, and securing of drainage systems.
  • Participate as a surgical team member in the preparation of the surgical suite, according to surgeon's preference cards, with appropriate instruments, resources, and supplies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including being on-call as required.
Requirements
  • BLS Provider certification obtained within 1 month of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Certified First Surgical Assistant certification obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience, or Associate's degree/Technical degree, or 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CVOR experience highly preferred.
