Schedule: Full-Time, 10 months per year

Salary Range: $16.31 per hour

Position Overview

The Child and Family Support Coordinator will deliver high-quality, comprehensive assistance to families and children enrolled in the Head Start and Early Head Start initiatives. This role will empower parents to enhance their influence in their child's educational journey and overall development.

The Coordinator will promote parental engagement in developmental activities and educational programs while collaborating with parents to establish objectives and access necessary support services.

This position entails designing training programs and fostering positive relationships among parents, schools, and students. Additionally, the Coordinator will assess participant eligibility and manage family enrollment processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit eligible families and children to provide comprehensive services.
  • Work towards maintaining full enrollment and prioritize families in need of assistance according to federal guidelines.
  • Evaluate family and child needs through surveys and interviews to determine eligibility and create action plans to eliminate barriers to educational success.
  • Support parents in various areas, including completing forms, health, nutrition, life skills, budgeting, and goal setting to facilitate school readiness and economic stability.
  • Encourage family participation and orient prospective participants to familiarize them with the Head Start program and its services.
  • Assist with health screenings, immunization checks, and referrals to external agencies to promote necessary treatments and comply with program standards.
  • Conduct home visits to enroll students, interview parents, inform them about community resources, and provide child development and parenting information.
  • Create individualized health, nutrition, and family support plans for enrolled children to advance family goals and strategies.
  • Report any suspected incidents of abuse or health concerns to appropriate authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of students.
  • Maintain accurate manual and electronic records for tracking program participation and required data.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Center Manager to ensure the effective operation of the Head Start/Early Head Start program.
Parent and Community Engagement
  • Participate in workshops, meetings, and community events to share and gather information.
  • Conduct outreach to low-income communities and collaborate with community leaders to recruit families for Head Start and develop resources.
  • Plan and facilitate family meetings and involvement events to address family support needs and adhere to program regulations.
  • Oversee the recruitment of parent and community volunteers and assist in organizing recognition programs.
  • Support Parent Committee and Health Services initiatives, and maintain contacts with the Policy Council.
  • Collaborate with the Center Manager or designated partners to support recruitment activities.
  • Identify and promote volunteer efforts that enhance Head Start/Early Head Start programs.
Compliance and Reporting
  • Execute job responsibilities in accordance with Head Start program standards to ensure eligibility and compliance with regulations.
  • Submit monthly reports and documentation of parent meetings, training, and referrals.
  • Ensure adherence to Agency Policies, Head Start Performance Standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Monitor services to maintain program quality and compliance with standards.
  • Report any instances of Child Abuse and Neglect to supervisors immediately.
  • Maintain required training hours as directed by licensing requirements through various training opportunities.
  • Continuously seek to improve operations and provide quality service.
Professional Responsibilities
  • Adhere to a professional development plan, including the renewal of necessary credentials.
  • Be available to attend out-of-town conferences and training sessions as required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Proficient in basic computer systems and software.
  • Utilize the ChildPlus system for documentation.
  • Obtain First Aid and Infant/Child CPR certification within 90 days of hire and maintain it.
  • Daily travel may be necessary to fulfill job duties; a valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
  • Ability to identify family strengths and advocate for their goals.
  • Competence in planning, organizing, scheduling, and maintaining effective communication.
  • Ability to connect with diverse families, community members, and staff.
  • Skill in building relationships and collaborating with community agencies.
  • Commitment to advocating for low-income, diverse families.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities.
Qualifications

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or a related field, with three years of experience in a human services program or working with low-income families.

Preferred: Master’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, or a related area, with two years of relevant experience.
