The Patient Navigator plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of a busy outpatient wound care center. This position encompasses a variety of front office responsibilities and general administrative tasks to support the center's staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with center leadership to optimize daily patient flow.
  • Engages in staff meetings to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Welcomes patients and visitors, managing calls and directing them to the appropriate personnel.
  • Handles all patient communication needs, including scheduling and appointment reminders, while coordinating with providers according to the care continuum model.
  • Collects and verifies patient insurance details, including pre-certifications and authorizations, entering data into relevant systems.
  • Records and processes patient charges accurately.
  • Ensures the accuracy of charges, prepares monthly patient feedback data, and submits necessary documentation to providers.
  • Organizes new patient records, maintains existing files, and performs quality checks for completeness and signatures.
  • Coordinates and schedules ancillary tests with other departments.
  • Arranges transportation for patients as required.
  • Maintains office and medical supplies as necessary.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED; Associate's degree is preferred.
  • At least two years of administrative experience, ideally in a healthcare environment; prior experience in medical coding is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Typing speed of 60 words per minute.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Experience with EPIC is preferred.
The hourly compensation for this role typically ranges from $18.84 to $24.55, depending on qualifications such as education, experience, and geographic considerations.
