The title and level of the selected candidate will be determined based on their years of experience. Candidates with four years of experience will be designated as Business Analyst, job grade 10; those with five years will be classified as Senior Business Analyst, job grade 11.

The Business Analyst role within the Advancement Information Services (AIS) will focus on providing application support, system maintenance, troubleshooting, and enhancements for the University's enterprise Advancement Information Systems, including Blackbaud CRM and Blackbaud Internet Solutions, along with other essential applications utilized by the division. This position will collaborate closely with key business stakeholders within the division and various external units across the University to effectively document, maintain, and improve system business processes and data solutions that support daily operations and initiatives.

The Senior Business Analyst in AIS is tasked with delivering strategic analysis services to business partners within the division and key units across the University that interact with Advancement. This role emphasizes a deep understanding of business strategies, processes, and needs to provide solution-oriented guidance and support. The Senior Business Analyst plays a vital role in addressing and resolving ongoing business challenges that arise throughout the division.

Key responsibilities include leading support efforts and ensuring consistent user adoption of the University's enterprise Advancement Information Systems, including Blackbaud CRM and Blackbaud Internet Solutions, as well as other critical applications. In alignment with Advancement's objectives, the responsibilities encompass: documenting business processes and identifying gaps; maintaining and supporting all Advancement systems; providing data analysis and solutions; ensuring compliance with data regulations; and leading projects aimed at business, technical, and systematic improvements.

Job Qualifications

Business Analyst - Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a related field such as business analytics, project management, higher education, fundraising, or nonprofits.
  • 3 or more years of experience providing implementation and technical support for CRM software, particularly Blackbaud CRM, is strongly preferred.
  • 2 or more years of experience in business analysis and/or project management.


Senior Business Analyst - Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field such as business analytics, project management, higher education, fundraising, or nonprofits.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience providing technical support/implementation of enterprise software and understanding the software development life-cycle.
  • 2 or more years of experience in business analysis and/or project management.


Required Qualifications
  • Ability to accurately document business requirements and information architecture of ERP systems.
  • Understanding of standard IT policies and procedures, including the use of test environments and change management procedures.
  • Proven experience utilizing Microsoft Excel for data import, export, querying, and reporting.
  • Strong commitment to internal customer service and a proactive approach to enhancing user efficiency.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with SQL or similar query languages is required; T-SQL is preferred.
  • Experience with Blackbaud products, particularly Blackbaud CRM, is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a philanthropic or higher education environment.
  • Working knowledge of relational database architectures.
  • Experience in developing and implementing reporting tools and using CRM software for data querying, extraction, and loading.
