The primary duty of the Construction Site Manager is to oversee daily operations at construction sites. This position involves managing subcontractor coordination, scheduling work activities, ensuring quality control, and enforcing safety regulations to guarantee a successful project outcome.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Construction Site Manager, your daily tasks will encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Representing Christman on-site every day work is conducted by establishing expectations and maintaining commitments.
  • Reviewing design documents for feasibility, phasing options, and site logistics, while recommending construction efficiencies based on these assessments.
  • Setting site standards for safety, quality, and overall conduct.
  • Creating a tailored safety program that addresses unique site hazards and developing a leadership approach for hazard management.
  • Providing safety orientations for all personnel entering the site and emphasizing the importance of safety over speed.
  • Addressing safety violations promptly and reinforcing commitment to a safe work environment.
  • Reporting and investigating incidents, with the authority to discipline repeat offenders as necessary.
  • Coordinating site logistics, including traffic flow and equipment placement.
  • Collaborating with the Project Manager, clients, and subcontractors to formulate a comprehensive work plan.
  • Ensuring timely initiation and completion of all subcontractor work in alignment with the project timeline.
  • Overseeing the interpretation of construction documents and ensuring compliance with contractual specifications.
  • Discussing quality standards with subcontractor foremen prior to installation.
  • Organizing pre-installation meetings for areas involving multiple trades.
  • Facilitating timely permitting and inspections to progress work efficiently.
  • Reviewing critical submissions for accuracy and constructability.
  • Maintaining a rolling punch list to define final quality expectations.
  • Verifying and approving timesheets for additional work performed by subcontractors.
  • Authorizing purchase requests for materials and labor as necessary.
  • Completing detailed daily reports on progress, safety inspections, and any challenges encountered.
  • Continuously evaluating project status against objectives and adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Resolving conflicts and disputes by focusing on mutually beneficial solutions.
  • Providing honest evaluations of subcontractor performance through feedback surveys.
  • Completing all required training for this position.

Qualifications:

Essential skills and experience for this role include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in commercial construction in a supervisory capacity.
  • Completion of relevant training in Construction Management, Project Management, Safety, or Communication.

  • Proficient in construction scheduling and managing large subcontractor teams.
  • Excellent organizational skills to meet deadlines consistently.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Commitment to team-based planning and problem-solving.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software.

Work Environment:

This role primarily involves outdoor work at construction sites and in an office trailer where project oversight occurs. The position may expose you to loud noises and requires the use of protective equipment. Physical demands include the ability to stand, walk, lift, and perform various tasks as needed.
