Position Summary:

The Land Surveying Specialist will operate under the guidance of the Grading Manager, providing essential support to Area and Project Managers by executing surveying and mapping services for construction layouts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed drawings illustrating existing and proposed areas, elevations, and features (such as parking lots and roadways).
  • Ensure the precision of survey data, including measurements and calculations taken at various sites.
  • Document survey results, capturing the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land features.
  • Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property boundaries, and other terrain characteristics.
  • Plan and execute ground surveys to establish baselines, elevations, and other critical measurements.
  • Support additional projects and tasks as assigned.

Candidate Profile:

  • Technical training and experience in surveying, civil engineering, or a related discipline are preferred.
  • A minimum of two to three years of relevant experience in the construction sector.
  • Fundamental surveying skills and knowledge of safe surveying equipment usage.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including proficiency in percentages and volumes.
  • Experience in interpreting blueprints and contract documents.
  • Able to thrive in fast-paced construction environments.
  • Capability to read, comprehend, and modify construction plans to ensure proper site drainage.
  • Valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organized with strong follow-up abilities.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and collaborative.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Civil Technology, Drafting Technology, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Surveying, or Survey Technology.
  • Familiarity with surveying software, such as Civil 3D or Carlson Survey.

Additional Information:

Timeliness and flexibility are essential; candidates must be prepared to travel to various job sites and work varied hours, including nights and weekends as necessary.
