Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to all established Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate facility assessments for scoring and identify areas for improvement.
  • Conduct quarterly safety inspections across various areas including administration, docks, yards, and workshops.
  • Compile and present quarterly and annual safety reports.
  • Collaborate with local agencies on safety and security matters.
  • Support the Company Representative during OSHA inspections and assist in resolving identified issues.
  • Create HSSE Alerts, document lessons learned, and implement corrective measures.
  • Lead and participate in safety toolbox discussions.
  • Carry out Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) observations and advocate for stop-work authority and near-miss reporting.
  • Provide assistance for special projects related to safety and compliance.
  • Contribute to the development of new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Assist in emergency response drills and safety stand-downs.
  • Investigate accidents, injuries, and near misses, documenting findings appropriately.
  • Support and participate in various audits including DOT, OSHA, Insurance, Customer, and Environmental audits.
  • Assist with regulatory compliance tasks as required.
  • Promote the establishment and active participation of local Safety and Leadership Teams.
  • Encourage reporting of Near Misses, Stop Work situations, and BBS observations.
  • Collaborate with terminal managers on special safety initiatives and Safety Blitz events.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols at all times.
  • Respond effectively to emergencies, injuries, and accidents.
  • Engage with Safety and Compliance team members in meetings and training sessions.
  • Contribute to the analysis of OSHA statistics.
  • Collaborate on the development of safety programs.
  • Oversee Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) management for the assigned terminal.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Possession of a valid driver's license is mandatory.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience is required.
  • An Associate degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience within the transportation or trucking sector is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with operational equipment such as forklifts, yard goats, loaders, trucks, and trailers is beneficial.

  • Understanding of DOT regulations.
  • Knowledge of regulatory agencies (OSHA/WISHA) and their impact on the trucking and transportation industry.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to manage sensitive and confidential information.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
