Minimum Qualifications:
This role requires a high school diploma or GED. Applicants must be at least 21 years old, a US citizen, and possess (or be eligible for) a valid Alaska Driver's License, with no felony convictions.
All candidates must meet the eligibility criteria set forth by the Alaska Police Standards Council regulations.
Position Details:
This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position located on the Troth Yeddha' campus in Fairbanks, AK, offering a competitive salary along with a comprehensive benefits package.
The University of Alaska provides an attractive compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays each year, tuition waivers for employees and their family members, and affordable medical, dental, and vision care coverage.
New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79 or 80, depending on their education and experience.
Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis until a suitable candidate is found. Preference will be given to those with prior law enforcement experience.
Application Process:
All applicants are required to submit a cover letter, resume, and an F-3 Personal History Statement, which can be found on the official website.
The F-3 form can be uploaded during the application process or submitted directly to the UAF Police Department. Supporting documents that validate previous law enforcement experience should also be included.
Applicants without prior law enforcement experience must complete the Law Enforcement Officer written examination.
Recruitment Process:
The recruitment process includes a departmental review of submitted materials. Complete application packets, including the F-3, must be received to proceed.
Eligibility confirmation (US citizenship, age, absence of felony convictions, and valid Alaska Driver's License or the ability to obtain one) will be conducted.
Current or previous law enforcement experience will be assessed at the departmental level; attendance at a basic public safety training academy is not mandatory.
Physical fitness requirements must be met.
Interviews and oral boards will follow, with priority given to candidates with prior law enforcement experience.
To qualify for this position, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions.
