Key Responsibilities:


Our Cleveland, Ohio office is seeking a qualified Bridge Engineer to take on the role of a National Bridge Inspection Team Leader.

The ideal candidate will be tasked with overseeing field inspections and ensuring the completion of detailed inspection reports for intricate bridge structures across the state.

Depending on experience and interest, there may be opportunities for entry-level project management roles.

Additional responsibilities may encompass structural design and analysis, load rating report preparation, drafting construction documents, project specifications, and cost estimations.

Daily tasks and technical direction will be provided by Project Engineers and Project Managers.

As part of our National Bridge Inspection Practice, the successful candidate will have the chance to collaborate with transportation agency clients nationwide, including various states.

We seek a candidate who is enthusiastic and dedicated to the inspection and assessment of operational bridges. Opportunities for training and involvement in our expanding National Rope Access Team and UAS (drone) inspection program are also available.

General Duties Include:

Conducting bridge inspection tasks on complex and significant structures.
Documenting thorough and clear inspection findings.
Creating concise evaluation reports for structural inspections.
Planning and preparing for bridge inspections.
Coordinating field operations with subcontractors and subconsultants.
Preparing cost proposals and labor-hour estimates.
Assisting in business proposal and safety plan preparation.
Conducting load rating analyses.

Participating in bridge design tasks, including contract plan preparation, specifications, design calculations, quantity calculations, and cost estimates.

Accountable for the precision of engineering designs, reports, load ratings, and plans, ensuring quality presentation, thoroughness, and adherence to budgets, schedules, and company standards.

Qualifications:

What You Bring:


  • Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering with a focus on structures from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Registered as a licensed Professional Engineer in Ohio.
  • Completion of the NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges (FHWA-NHI).
  • Experience as a Bridge Inspection Team Leader.
  • Team-oriented with strong communication skills.
  • Experience operating bucket trucks, manlifts, and under-bridge inspection vehicles.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Experience in reading plans and shop drawings, evaluating contractor compliance with construction specifications.
  • Eager to learn, a team player, and enthusiastic.
  • Commitment to quality work and timely communication.

Exhibits strong oral communication skills, ethical conduct, punctuality, and professionalism. Maintains professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, networking, and participation in professional societies.
Able and willing to travel within the continental United States for bridge inspections.

Physically capable of performing fieldwork, including working at heights and in adverse weather conditions.

Valid Driver's License required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of the NHI Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges (FHWA-NHI).
  • Experience with engineering design software such as MicroStation, AASHTOWare BrR, Staad.Pro, MDX, MathCAD, LUSAS, or other structural analysis tools.
  • Background in structural engineering with experience in design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Rope access experience or willingness to learn.
  • Licensed drone pilot with FAA Part 107 certification and drone operation experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including basic programming skills.
