Key Responsibilities:


System One is seeking qualified Structural Bridge Evaluation Engineers to join our National Bridge Inspection Practice. This role focuses on conducting thorough inspections of bridges using advanced rope access methods.

The ideal candidates will have the flexibility to operate from various locations across the country.

We are looking for detail-oriented professionals who exhibit a strong work ethic and possess a genuine enthusiasm for bridge inspection and assessment.

Successful applicants should hold at least a SPRAT Level I certification and demonstrate a commitment to advancing their expertise in this field.

This position entails the inspection and assessment of intricate and notable bridges, as well as the preparation of load ratings.

Selected candidates will report to the National Rope Access Program Manager and will have opportunities to collaborate on projects at a national level for various owners and agencies.

There are also chances to engage in our UAS (drone) inspection initiatives. The preferred candidate can be based anywhere in the United States.

General Duties Include:

Conducting inspections on complex and significant structures
Willingness to travel across the continental United States for field inspections (approximately 40% of the time)
Documenting clear and comprehensive inspection findings
Preparing concise evaluation reports for structure inspections
Assisting in the planning and preparation of field inspections
Contributing to the development of business proposals, cost estimates, and safety plans
Supporting the Rope Access Program Manager with effective access and rescue strategies
Performing load rating analyses
Participating in bridge design tasks including contract plan preparation, specifications, design calculations, quantity calculations, and cost estimation
Ensuring accuracy in engineering designs, reports, load ratings, and plans, while adhering to quality standards, budgets, and schedules
Company-provided personal rope access equipment
Paid overtime and travel time
Access to a company vehicle

Qualifications:
What You Bring:

A Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering with a focus on structures from an ABET-accredited institution.

Extensive experience utilizing rope access techniques (SPRAT, IRATA) for bridge inspections and certification as a SPRAT Level I, II, or III Technician.

Completion of the Engineering-in-Training exam.

Completion of the following:
NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges (FHWA-NHI) and NHI Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges (FHWA-NHI)
Experience operating bucket trucks, manlifts, and under-bridge inspection vehicles.
Ability to read and interpret plans and shop drawings.
Team-oriented engineer with strong communication skills.
Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
Willingness to learn, collaborate, and demonstrate enthusiasm.
Commitment to quality work and timely communication.

Strong oral communication skills - able to articulate clearly and persuasively; attentive listener who seeks clarification and responds effectively to inquiries.

Preferred Qualifications:

Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer.
Experience and willingness to learn NDT (non-destructive testing) methods such as dye-penetrant testing and magnetic particle testing.
A background in structural or bridge engineering is preferred.

Familiarity with engineering drafting software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and engineering analysis tools like AASHTO BrR.

Licensed drone pilot with successful completion of FAA Part 107 and relevant drone experience.
