IT Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated IT Support Specialist to join our team at WVU Medicine. As an IT Support Specialist, you will be responsible for providing technical support and assistance to end-users, troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues, and maintaining technical expertise in personal computer technology and associated software.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical support and assistance to end-users, including troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues.
- Maintain technical expertise in personal computer technology and associated software through reading, online training courses, and other avenues provided by the IT department.
- Install and test end-user computer hardware and software as assigned, including PCs, laptops, tablets, printers, IP phones, and mobile devices.
- Assess and resolve end-user reported PC hardware and software issues to determine the root cause and provide appropriate remedial service.
- Participate in joint application and/or technical development sessions, and apprise status, schedule variances, and outstanding issues with team members and project managers.
- Manage workload and balance quality of work with deadlines, and complete proper documentation of work tasks per policy.
- Assist in controlling project costs and communicate any project-related expenses as assigned.
- Participate in departmental and project teams as requested in a support role and report all relevant information and/or notes back to the rest of the team.
- Implement changes while adhering to the change control policy and procedures for the project to deliver a successful solution to the customer.
- Associate degree in Information Technology or technical-related field, or two years' experience with personal computer hardware and software support.
- One year experience with personal computer hardware and software support required.
- A+ Certification, CCNA, MCP, or MCSE preferred.
- Ability to handle and maintain confidential information, work well under high stress conditions, and adapt to various workloads and assignments.
- Ability to work with multi-disciplinary groups, facilitate meetings, and possess good oral and written communication skills.
- Must have reading and comprehension ability, be able to type, and have independent decision-making ability.
The work environment is a standard office environment, and the successful candidate will be expected to work a standard shift, such as 8:00AM to 4:30PM, as well as a Saturday or Sunday shift.
