About the Role:
The Lead Culinary Operations Manager at Emma's Torch at the Brooklyn Public Library will work closely with the Executive Culinary Director to create a safe, inclusive, and challenging work environment for students. This role involves teaching all aspects of production and service in a restaurant setting, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organization, and food quality, and managing daily cafe operations.
Responsibilities:
Culinary Education and Support (50%):
- Mentor students in BOH training, contributing to the culinary curriculum, initial kitchen training sessions, and throughout the service portion of the program.
- Model professionalism, work ethic, organization, and sanitation for students.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and sociable working environment.
- Communicate effectively with students and the Program team.
Cafe Profitability and Community Engagement (20%):
- Monitor menu sales and contribute input to guide marketing efforts.
- Engage guests to drive repeat business and assist with off-site catering events as needed.
Kitchen Operations (30%):
- Maintain all service standards for the kitchen, including ordering supplies and inventory management.
- Collaborate with the Culinary and Operations teams on scheduling, menu development, costing, labor control, and DOH guidelines.
- Manage facilities and equipment according to DOH standards.
Benefits:
This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic team at Emma's Torch at the Brooklyn Public Library. The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
