Senior Operations Manager, Strategy Division

Chemonics International seeks a seasoned Senior Operations Manager to lead the Strategy Division. This role is critical in driving the development and implementation of the company's USG Growth Strategy, ensuring strategic investments and initiatives that position Chemonics for long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide senior-level management, operational, and administrative expertise to the Business Unit (BU)
  • Manage all BU operations, including talent management, staff engagement, staffing and resourcing, performance management, staff recognition, and events
  • Advise the Operations Director on business operations strategies, plans, and procedures, ensuring consistency across the BU
  • Provide strategic input to the BU Senior Vice President, including drafting communications, planning trainings, meetings, and events, and supporting corporate initiatives
  • Identify business opportunities, efficiencies, and cost savings for the BU, and develop plans to address risks and mitigate their impact
  • Propose and lead the development of processes, policies, and programs to effectively identify, manage, and mitigate risks and support BU goals
  • Coordinate and provide input into annual work planning with the SVP and department directors
  • Lead and coordinate responses to periodic Board of Directors and strategic Executive Management Team meetings
  • Provide procurement assistance to projects as needed
  • Provide surge support on PMUs, startup, and closeouts, and as needed
  • Contribute to new business activities, including proposal team roles such as proposal lead, technical writer, cost preparer, and proposal reviewer
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience; Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience; staff supervisory and mentorship experience required
  • Knowledge or familiarity with government procurement and contracting
  • Proficiency in key areas of operations, including budget management, procurement and contractual compliance, talent sourcing and recruitment, client relations, and personnel management
  • Demonstrated experience working on one or more government-funded projects and experience with business development required
  • Demonstrated experience following and creating standard practices and procedures, receiving general instructions on work progress, and making significant contributions to end results
  • Works independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in problem-solving and initiative to learn new skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and word processing abilities
  • Previous experience working in international development and/or living or conducting work in developing countries preferred
  • Willingness to travel up to 8 weeks per year
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Language proficiency for assigned geographic area preferred
