Position Overview:
As a key leader in our organization, the Risk Management Nursing Manager is responsible for overseeing the loss prevention and patient safety initiatives within the designated healthcare facility. This role serves as a vital resource for both clinical and administrative staff, ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff alike.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of loss prevention strategies and patient safety programs across the facility, collaborating with various departments to enhance overall safety standards.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of potential claims and legal matters, including evidence collection, interviews, and review of medical records, while actively participating in root cause analysis.
  • Analyze unusual occurrence reports, initiate further investigations as necessary, and recommend corrective actions in partnership with the Director of Risk Management.
  • Monitor and trend incidents, claims, and lawsuits, advising on corrective measures and assessing their effectiveness in consultation with the Director of Risk Management.
  • Identify and evaluate existing risk exposures within the facility, proposing effective control measures and monitoring their implementation.
  • Represent the risk management department in relevant organizational committees, providing leadership and guidance on safety and operational matters.
  • Coordinate responses to discovery requests in legal cases as required.
  • Engage in professional development activities related to risk management and patient safety.
  • Achieve assigned performance goals and objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: A minimum of three to five years in clinical or management roles, with a preference for experience in risk management and patient safety.
  • Education: A degree in a health-related field is required, with a preference for nursing qualifications.
  • Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license is required.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of licensure and accreditation standards, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with medical staff and administration.
