Senior Design Physicist

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Design Physicist to join our team at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. As a Senior Design Physicist, you will be responsible for assessing, designing, and analyzing complex physics interactions relevant to our programs.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and Analyze Complex Physics Interactions: Utilize your expertise in plasma physics, radiation transport, atomic physics, nuclear physics, and hydrodynamics to assess and analyze complex physics interactions relevant to our programs.
- Design and Develop Innovative Solutions: Design and develop innovative solutions to complex physics problems, utilizing your expertise in computational physics, theoretical physics, and experimental physics.
- Present and Disseminate Research Results: Present and disseminate research results at scientific conferences and peer-reviewed publications, both internally and externally.
- Lead Research Projects: Set broad research/project vision and strategy, and influence technical direction for self and/or others.
- Mentor and Train Staff: Serve as a mentor to staff and other mentors across the organization, providing guidance and support in the development of their skills and expertise.
- PhD in Physics or Related Field: Possess a PhD in physics or a related field, or equivalent level of demonstrated knowledge.
- Expertise in Plasma Physics and Radiation Transport: Have expert knowledge of state-of-the-art concepts in plasma physics and radiation transport, and the ability to lead independent work conducting applied physics research.
- Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively present, explain, influence, and advise senior management and external sponsors.
- Ability to Secure and Maintain Q-Level Clearance: Be able to secure and maintain a Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
