Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Residential Support Counselor to join our team at North Suffolk Community Services Inc. As a Residential Support Counselor, you will play a vital role in providing direct care to individuals living in a residential setting, promoting their overall health and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to residents, helping them develop daily living skills, transportation, and other essential life skills.
  • Collaborate with residents to identify personal priorities, preferences, strengths, and interests, and help them establish goals that support a life in recovery.
  • Arrange and transport residents to appointments or daily outings, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Complete administrative tasks, such as answering phones and filling out paperwork, in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Assist with household tasks, such as cooking and cleaning, to maintain a safe and healthy living environment.
  • Provide side-by-side support and coaching to help residents socialize and become more involved in their community.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED equivalent is required; Bachelor's Degree is highly preferred.
  • At least one year of experience working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and/or substance use disorder.
  • Valid driver's license is required; MAP certification within five months of hire and CPR/First Aid certification within the orientation period are also required.
  • ASL fluency is a plus.
