Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Counselor to join our team at North Suffolk Community Services Inc. As a Residential Counselor, you will play a vital role in providing direct care to individuals living in a residential setting, helping them to achieve their goals and improve their overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to residents, helping them to develop daily living skills, manage their medication, and participate in community activities.
  • Collaborate with residents to identify their strengths, interests, and goals, and develop personalized treatment plans to support their recovery.
  • Assist residents with transportation, meal preparation, and household tasks, promoting independence and self-sufficiency.
  • Document resident progress, maintain accurate records, and communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in areas such as crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, and cultural competence.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred.
  • At least one year of experience working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and/or substance use disorder.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to transport residents as needed.
  • MAP certification within five months of hire and completion of CPR/First Aid training during orientation.
  • ASL fluency a plus.
