Job Summary:

A Biomedical Equipment Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective use of biomedical equipment in our clinical environment. This position requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

The primary responsibility of this position is to perform safety testing, preventive maintenance, repairs, and pre-acceptances on biomedical equipment and systems. This includes electronic patient and non-patient equipment used in the patient care area, as well as electronic equipment designed for diagnostic, therapeutic, and laboratory applications.

This position also involves monitoring and continuously seeking improvement in the Environment of Care, particularly in terms of patient, staff, and facility safety. Additionally, the Biomedical Equipment Technician will develop and maintain biomedical equipment inventory and history records, coordinate equipment service inspections, and implement plans to reduce equipment failure and increase reliability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform safety testing, preventive maintenance, repairs, and pre-acceptances on biomedical equipment and systems
  • Monitor and continuously seek improvement in the Environment of Care
  • Develop and maintain biomedical equipment inventory and history records
  • Coordinate equipment service inspections and implement plans to reduce equipment failure and increase reliability
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Post High School Vocational / Military / Specialized Training as a Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) - AA degree; Bachelor's degree in Clinical /Biomedical (BME) or AAMI Certification preferred
  • 5+ years of previous experience as a Biomedical Equipment Technician or military trained Biomedical Equipment Repair Technician
  • Personal computer skills, Word processing software (MS Word), Spreadsheet/database software (Excel)
  • Strong English reading, verbal, written communication skills
  • Ability to interact successfully with management, physicians, Board members, and staff
  • Ability to work independently, problem solve, and handle multiple priorities
Physical Requirements:

  • Reach: Up to 6 hours
  • Rep Use of UE/Grasp: Up to 6 hrs
  • Lift/Push/Pull: 50 lbs, over 50# with assistance or equipment
