Lead Construction Project Executive

Lead Construction Project Executive will oversee all elements of design-build and engineer-procure-construct projects, including management and administration of the primary contract, as well as supervising the engineering, design, procurement, scheduling, and construction management teams. This role is accountable for all aspects of project execution, which includes directing and coordinating the field office and managing construction subcontracts and purchase orders.
This position entails supervising all field operations on assigned projects and may occasionally require performing project management duties directly from the worksite. The executive will ensure compliance through auditing and inspection of work performed by construction subcontractors, verifying adherence to contract specifications and preparing audit reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leads integrated Design-Build (DB) and Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) teams from project initiation to completion, including involvement during the pursuit phase if necessary.
- Provides comprehensive direction and coordination of both intermediate and final engineering design and construction activities.
- Administers and manages the primary contract, construction subcontracts, and purchase orders.
- Ensures alignment with customer objectives regarding safety, quality, and environmental stewardship.
- Plans, executes, and reports on overall project performance.
- Engages directly with customers to facilitate optimal communication, satisfaction, and coordination between the project and other jobsite activities.
- Proactively mitigates and resolves potential disputes.
- Develops and oversees compliance with project-specific health and safety plans, as well as quality control and assurance plans.
- Supervises Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers, coordinating with Construction Managers and site safety representatives, while fostering a motivated project team to achieve goals and meet milestones.
- Addresses and manages Requests for Information.
- Conducts value engineering and constructability assessments.
- Creates procurement status reports in collaboration with engineering design, procurement, scheduling, and estimating teams, detailing the segregation of work by subcontract and purchase order packages.
- Oversees the development of subcontractor and supplier scope, pricing, and scheduling exhibits.
- Collaborates with procurement teams to facilitate local bidding efforts.
- Maintains oversight of subcontracts and purchase orders.
- Reviews and approves invoices for subcontract and purchase orders.
- Manages subcontractor and purchase order submittals.
- Develops initial project-specific schedules in conjunction with engineering design, scheduling, procurement, and field construction staff.
- Monitors progress across conceptual design, intermediate and final engineering design, and construction activities.
- Administers and manages modifications to the primary contract.
- Creates a project-specific Schedule of Values.
- Submits and expedites timely progress payments.
- Coordinates, prepares, and presents monthly reports on progress, budget forecasting, and schedule management.
- Handles project close-out and warranty administration.
- Conducts post-construction cost reviews and reporting.
- Ensures positive relations among project stakeholders, including customers, design teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Mentors and trains junior staff.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
- Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Science/Management, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent work experience or a combination of work and education may be considered.
- 10+ years of experience in Construction Project Management, particularly with direct DB/EPC projects in the power delivery sector; must demonstrate a thorough understanding of materials, methods, and equipment used in transmission, distribution, and substation work.
- Proficient in various aspects of engineering, design, construction, and contracting methodologies, as well as project planning and management tasks, including engineering, estimating, scheduling, bidding, and contract administration.

- Proficient in estimating, scheduling, and project management software; familiarity with Primavera P6 is preferred.
- Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office.
- In-depth knowledge of the power delivery industry.
- Understanding of safety and environmental best practices in the power industry.
- Familiarity with quality control and assurance measures in the power sector.
Travel Requirements:
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, as project needs dictate.
