Position Summary:

VERTEX is on the lookout for a Lead Scientist/Engineer to spearhead innovative strategies and manage complex assessment and remediation initiatives across New England. Our clientele ranges from private developers to municipal and federal agencies, providing a unique opportunity to engage in high-profile projects alongside some of the region's leading developers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and conduct comprehensive projects encompassing environmental due diligence, subsurface evaluations, indoor air quality assessments, and soil and groundwater remediation.
  • Engage directly with clients to comprehend project requirements and formulate precise scopes of work.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and regulatory compliance to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Lead all phases of project management, including planning, scope definition, budgeting, coordination, execution, and final delivery.
  • Select and supervise project team members and subcontractors to ensure effective collaboration.
  • Coordinate activities across multiple project functions to guarantee successful project delivery.
  • Prepare and conduct senior reviews of proposals, technical plans, regulatory submissions, and assessment reports, ensuring accuracy in data presentation.
  • Review Health and Safety Plans and Job Safety Analyses for project sites.
  • Actively participate in client engagement initiatives to foster relationships and secure project opportunities.
  • Meet performance metrics as established by management.
  • Additional responsibilities may include property condition assessments and commercial energy evaluations.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in environmental consulting, with expertise in due diligence, remediation, and compliance projects.
  • Possession of appropriate licensure to act as a senior lead on projects (LSP, PG, PE, CIH, etc.).
  • Proven leadership capabilities in managing project teams effectively.
  • Demonstrated success in overseeing multifaceted environmental projects from planning through monitoring.
  • Strong track record in business development.
  • Willingness to travel regionally and nationally for client engagements, with a valid driver's license.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Relevant safety certifications in accordance with OSHA regulations (OSHA 10/30, HAZWOPER).
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and technical report writing proficiency.
