Position Summary:
VERTEX is on the lookout for a motivated and skilled environmental scientist, geologist, or engineer with a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in fieldwork, sample collection, and the preparation of technical assessment reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and compile Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) along with various environmental documentation.
  • Execute Phase II ESA field investigations, which include environmental sampling of soil, groundwater, soil gas, and indoor air.
  • Gather and analyze laboratory and field data for comprehensive reporting.
  • Create tables, figures, and boring logs for inclusion in technical reports aimed at clients.
  • Assist in the scheduling, coordination, and oversight of subcontractor activities related to projects.
  • Develop and implement Health and Safety Plans for site visits.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in fieldwork for environmental assessment and remediation initiatives.
  • Familiarity with ASTM assessment standards is essential.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are a must.
  • Proficient technical report writing skills with experience in contributing to client-facing documentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities while adhering to deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required; familiarity with CAD and/or Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel nationally for fieldwork; a valid driver's license is necessary.

Additional Information:
Physical requirements include the ability to navigate job sites during inspections, which may involve uneven terrain, climbing ladders to assess roofing conditions, and carrying field testing equipment (up to 30 pounds) regularly.
