Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and nurture relationships with students, parents/caregivers, and fellow educators.
  • Create a secure and stimulating learning atmosphere that aligns with the school's mission and values.
  • Assist the teaching team in various capacities, including:
    • Preparing and organizing educational materials and activities.
    • Implementing lesson components as directed by the lead teacher.
    • Maintaining cleanliness and organization in the classroom and storage areas.
  • Supervise students to ensure their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Provide the teacher with observations and notes to support student learning and growth.
  • Maintain accurate records related to students' academic progress, attendance, behavior, and parental communications.
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to understand and support key objectives for the academic year.
  • Engage in staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Assist with non-instructional tasks as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Teacher Assistant Coordinator and Division Director.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A valid Educational Aide permit from the Ohio Department of Education is required or must be obtained within three months of hire.
  • Previous experience working with middle school students is strongly preferred.
  • Completion of an FBI/BCI background check is required.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods, move throughout the classroom, and navigate a two-story building.
  • Capability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods.

Additional Information

  • Status: Full-Time; Non-Exempt
  • Reports to: Teacher Assistant Coordinator
