Position Overview:
This role is for a Special Education Middle School Resource Teacher dedicated to fostering an inclusive learning environment.
Compensation:
Starting salary for certified SPED teachers is $77,000*, which includes additional incentives as outlined below.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Special Education Teacher, your primary goal will be to provide tailored educational experiences that promote the intellectual, emotional, physical, and social development of students with special needs. This includes:
- Designing and adapting curricula to meet individual student needs.
- Preparing instructional materials and lessons aligned with student capabilities.
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and a valid Texas teaching certificate with the necessary special education endorsements.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Understanding of the unique needs of students with disabilities, knowledge of the ARD Committee process, and the ability to adapt instructional methods accordingly.
Experience:
A minimum of one year of student teaching or an approved internship is required.
Major Duties:
Instructional Strategies:
- Work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff to create effective IEPs.
- Implement individualized instructional programs and maintain documentation of student progress.
- Assess and adapt teaching methods to suit diverse learning styles.
- Utilize various instructional techniques and technology to enhance learning.
- Support special education students in mainstream classrooms as needed.
Student Development:
- Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress.
- Provide necessary personal and medical care as outlined in IEPs.
- Engage in extracurricular activities to support student growth.
Classroom Management:
- Create a supportive and conducive learning environment.
- Manage student behavior and implement appropriate disciplinary measures.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
Professional Responsibilities:
- Maintain open communication with parents and colleagues.
- Participate in professional development to enhance teaching skills.
- Adhere to all relevant regulations and policies.
Additional Duties:
Perform any other responsibilities as assigned by your supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Oversee the work of instructional aides and volunteers.
Physical and Mental Demands:
This position may require prolonged standing, frequent bending, lifting of students with physical disabilities, and maintaining emotional control under stress.
