DIRECTOR OF RESIDENT CARE SERVICES

Position Type: Full Time

ROLE OVERVIEW

  • Support the Administrator in managing the admissions process, which includes interviewing, assessing, verifying financial eligibility, and completing all necessary documentation. Responsible for the initial setup of new residents in the care management system and ongoing updates as care plans evolve.
  • Evaluate, create, and implement personalized care plans for each resident, ensuring they are regularly updated based on individual needs.
  • Communicate with and obtain directives from healthcare providers regarding resident care. This may be delegated to appropriate staff under supervision, ensuring compliance with all medical orders and accurate documentation.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of Liberty Health's policies and state regulations governing assisted living facilities.
  • Procure medications for residents from designated pharmacies, with delegation to qualified staff as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records for each resident, including medication administration and care documentation, in accordance with facility protocols.
  • Train and orient staff on resident care policies and the care management system.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate resident services as dictated by care plans.
  • Establish and oversee an infection control program, ensuring staff training and compliance with health standards.
  • Manage inventory and procurement of medical supplies, ensuring proper billing for personal items.
  • Conduct regular assessments of residents, including vital sign monitoring and administering necessary injections, with appropriate delegation.
  • Engage with families, providing regular updates on resident status and immediate communication in case of emergencies.
  • Oversee medication management processes, including administration, ordering, and record-keeping for controlled substances.
  • Supervise records for all staff, ensuring compliance with health screening and vaccination requirements.
  • Develop and implement training for emergency procedures related to resident safety and care.
  • Facilitate training sessions on essential topics such as Resident Rights, Infection Control, and Safety Protocols.
  • Manage staff scheduling and respond to emergency calls as needed, ensuring appropriate coverage and support.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies, demonstrating leadership and collaboration with residents, families, and team members.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Administrator.
  • Must maintain availability for communication as required by the Administrator.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse credentials.
  • Qualified as Administrator-in-Charge or Supervisor-in-Charge per assisted living regulations.
  • Experience working with geriatric and dementia populations.
  • Minimum age of 21 years with a valid, clean driver's license.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the care and welfare of geriatric patients.
  • Ability to delegate and supervise effectively while following medical directives.
  • Strong collaborative skills with nursing staff, departments, families, and visitors.
  • Exhibit kindness and respect towards all patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Proficient in using medical equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to hygiene standards.
  • Familiarity with community policies and procedures.
  • Commitment to ongoing training and participation in staff meetings.
