About the Role

Shimmick Construction Co. is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Estimator - Project Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Electrical Division, you will be responsible for developing accurate and timely electrical construction estimates for our client-base of General Contractors, Owners, Developers, and end-users.

Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed electrical construction estimates for competitive bids and proposals.
  • Analyze and interpret complex drawings and specifications.
  • Determine and price value-engineered alternatives to plans and specifications.
  • Perform budget pricing from schematic drawings and narrative.
  • Draft scope letters, proposals, and vendor solicitations.
  • Lead the functions of the Estimating Department, including the education and development of junior personnel.
  • Develop and maintain computerized estimating programs and databases.
  • Establish and maintain congenial relations with clients and vendors.
  • Work under deadline pressures in an efficient, composed, and calm manner.
  • Perform change-orders and cost-to-complete estimates of ongoing projects.
  • Help create and communicate company standards for estimating electrical design/build and plans and specs work.
  • Review estimates created by others for accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform job handoffs from estimating to operations through clearly demonstrating detailed scopes of work, specifications, and job-specific conditions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, plus 12 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Working knowledge of Accubid Anywhere utilizing Live Count estimating software is preferred.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize competing demands in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills to deliver presentations with confidence.
  • Proficient computer skills and Microsoft Office suite of applications.
  • Supervisory experience desired, able to delegate, coordinate work of others, monitor performance, and deliver feedback.
  • 10+ years of experience in estimating heavy industrial water/wastewater/public works infrastructure electrical construction projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in electrical power, instrumentation/controls, schematics, and control diagrams.
  • Ability to effectively organize and manage multiple projects, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in hard-bid contract work as well as conceptual estimating.

  • The salary range for this position is between $160,000 - $210,000 depending on experience and/or education.
