Mission Statement of the Unit:

The School of Nursing is dedicated to transforming the nursing profession through innovative education, groundbreaking research, and collaborative efforts.

Primary Objective of this Role:

The Commonwealth of Virginia's School of Nursing is inviting applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the level of Associate Professor or Professor. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a robust history of nursing research supported by external funding and exhibit a commitment to providing strategic leadership and mentorship to faculty and students alike. Research interests should align with and enhance the existing strengths of the School of Nursing. Areas of focus that are particularly sought after include biobehavioral clinical research for diverse populations, promotion of wellness and health equity, community-engaged research, and healthcare systems science, particularly in quality and safety. The selected candidate will also engage in graduate-level teaching, mentor doctoral students, and may take on leadership roles within the PhD program as necessary. Compensation and rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

Foster engagement among faculty, students, and staff to cultivate a diverse academic community
Demonstrate a cohesive academic career, contributing to the teaching, research, and service objectives of a major urban research university with a health sciences focus
Essential Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in research with at least one graduate degree in nursing.
Active RN licensure or eligibility for licensure in Virginia
Proven record of scholarly achievement with a well-established research program that aligns with the School's focus areas, including but not limited to biobehavioral studies, wellness initiatives, community research, and healthcare systems science.
Current or previous funding for research initiatives
Experience in teaching at the doctoral level
Demonstrated excellence and enthusiasm for mentoring peers and students
Experience in promoting and supporting a diverse environment among faculty, staff, and students or a commitment to fostering such an environment as a faculty member. Preferred Qualifications:
Leadership experience in PhD programs, including curriculum development or program evaluation
A strong record of scholarly and professional service achievements
Demonstrated or potential leadership skills, particularly in collaborative settings
