Department Overview

The Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences is on the lookout for a dedicated faculty member to enhance our teaching capabilities in immunohematology for both undergraduate and graduate students. This role involves leading research initiatives, participating in departmental service, and contributing to the advancement of the profession. We invite applications for a full-time position at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor, with the possibility of tenure track or non-tenure track based on qualifications and departmental needs.

Position Responsibilities

Teaching
The selected faculty member will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in immunohematology courses. Additional teaching responsibilities may be assigned based on the faculty member's expertise and departmental requirements.

Research
The faculty member will actively engage in promoting the research and scholarship efforts of the department, collaborating with faculty and students to enhance academic contributions.

Service
Participation in departmental, college, and university committees is expected. The faculty member will also represent the department in professional organizations and contribute to the field through activities such as peer review and conference organization.

Mentorship
The faculty member will provide guidance to graduate students, overseeing their research projects and serving as a mentor to both undergraduate and graduate students in Medical Laboratory Sciences.

Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in medical laboratory science or a related field.
  • Nationally recognized certification in medical laboratory science.
  • Experience in teaching within academic or clinical settings, along with strong communication skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive educational environment.
  • For junior faculty, an established research agenda is necessary; for senior faculty, a robust scholarly portfolio with evidence of external funding is required.
  • Experience in effectively mentoring students from diverse backgrounds is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctorate in a health-related science or medical laboratory sciences.
  • Experience in teaching and mentoring at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Demonstrated record of scholarly productivity and external funding.
  • Clinical experience in the field.
  • Experience in instructional design and online education.
