Job Overview

Position Summary:

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Liability Claims Specialist with a focus on managing General Liability claims, particularly those involving litigation. The ideal candidate will possess mediation and trial experience, complemented by a minimum of 5 years in claims adjusting or a related field, with significant exposure to complex litigation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a diverse caseload of approximately 150 claims, varying in complexity.
  • Conduct thorough investigations to establish facts of loss, analyze coverage, and determine liability, compensability, and negligence.
  • Coordinate medical care as necessary and oversee litigation processes, including damage assessments and settlement negotiations.
  • Identify potential fraud and engage authorized vendors as needed.
  • Ensure timely reserve analysis and completion of reports, adhering to state statutes and client guidelines.
  • Participate in conferences and client meetings, providing mentorship to junior adjusters and supporting management as required.

Essential Duties:

Coverage Analysis:

  • Evaluate and confirm coverage details.
  • Maintain regular communication with all relevant parties to ascertain liability and compensability.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries and provide necessary information throughout the claims process.

Investigation and Settlement:

  • Verify claims facts, including employment and damages, and assess cases for potential settlement.
  • Negotiate settlements and evaluate liens, while identifying and reporting potential fraud cases.

Litigation Management:

  • Develop and implement a litigation strategy in collaboration with defense counsel, ensuring compliance with all filing requirements.
  • Review litigated files regularly and document all developments, including depositions and responses to filings.

Reporting and Resolution:

  • Document action plans in the claims system and maintain regular diaries for case monitoring.
  • Ensure all claims are closed in a timely and efficient manner, maintaining a high closing ratio.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required; a college degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in claims adjusting, with a focus on complex litigation.
  • Must possess or be eligible for a Florida Adjuster's license or equivalent licensing in other jurisdictions.
  • Advanced negotiation and litigation skills are essential.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities are required.
